Chamillionaire & Slim Thug Not Happy With The State Of Texas

This was not really a shock, but Texas Rap (mainly in Houston) has not been the same since 2005 when "Still Tippin'" first went national it would showcase three of Houston's Big Four (Slim Thug, Mike Jones, & Paul Wall). Chamillionaire chose his own lane to become the fourth. All of them had promising national debut albums, but soon after things would begin to slow. Both Slim Thug and Mike Jones have not released second albums due to label politics and causing their buzz in the national light to burn out. But Slim kept busy with his group Boss Hogg Outlaws, which would keep people talking. But Mike Jones seemed to disappear. Paul Wall and Cham would both release sophmore sets and squash their beef in 2007 into 2008 but both albums failed to do the numbers of the previous albums. So what is Texas/Houston to do?? What's Up With JD??

Well no one knows just yet. But everybody in the Island/Def Jam building seems content on keeping their mouths shut. and usually when there is silence the mess in still a mess and it may be true. So for right know lets leave it in the RUMORS column. Things must be hard for JD still seeing that just last week he shut down Cafe Dupri, and all of the allegations of unpaid workers. Helpfully there will not be any lawsuits headed his way and stuff can get straightened out. The hardest blow to him last week may have been the fact that Da Brat, someone he often consider his little sister, got three years in jail over assault charges. She is off the scene for a while and shows back up in the worst way. I would post a mugshot but i think that is degrading to her as a person. Brat is quite talented and hopfully she can get out a lot sooner on like good behavior or something. Last week did not have JD's name on it....

As far as the JD and IDJ situation I will update you as it happens...

Well it looks like one of my favorite Hip-Hop business moguls may be on the outs. After successfully running Café Dupri in the Buckhead area of ATL since 2005, Jermaine Dupri has decided to closes the health conscious café due to a dramatically changing climate in the US. But that's not all. Apparently there has been some frustrated employees who have been venting about not being paid....that may be a slight problem if I do say so myself. And there seems to be some problems with them getting paid...like bounced checks (ouch!). Here is the AllHipHop story:

And if it couldn't get any worse, it looks like JD might be getting his walking papers from Island/Def Jam. A source says do to failed sales of Janet Jackson's Discipline, Mariah Carey's E=MC2, ANND Jonta Austin's often delayed and eventually selved Ocean Drive, JD is just not making the cut or producing the numbers that IDJ wants (neglecting the fact that JD makes hits and that record sells have been down since 2006)...well this is not confirmed yet so I won't jump the gun on JD being made to walk the plank. I wonder what LA Reid and Doug Morris would have to say about it...hmmmmm...more so LA since he was the one that championed along with Jay-Z to get JD over to IDJ and LA and Dupri have always been cool. Well then...

What I Know About The Blueprint 3 Thus Far....

Well the why it looks and from what I read, Kanye will produce a majority if not ALL of this next installment in the Blueprint franchise. Jay-Z has already somewhat released his new joint "Jockin'" via video of him coming out at the Garden with Kanye. But from what I understand the song will not be released quite yet due to the lack of a 3rd verse to the song, but as soon as there is one I'm pretty sure the song will be landing soon like a martian!

While most are counting Timbo out of the project, I am not counting him out just yet. If Kanye has proven anything its the fact that he can put together an album....PERIOD!!! So I'm sure Timbo can be utilized in some way, maybe a few beats here and there. And as big as mega-uber-producers as both Kanye and Mr. Mosley are I'm pretty sure that those two care work together quite nicely (see the Kanye and Timbo video of them working on drums for "Stronger"). Timbo has still got hits in him....tons of them!! Just look at Justin Timberlake's last album, its still one of my favorites because every song on there is a hit, not to mention all of the work with Keri Hilson, Madonna, etc.

But a while album with just Jay-Z and Kanye would not be bad. It would go back to the formula of One Rapper + One Producer = One dope ass album! And Yeezy is always looking for new ways to evolve his song....why not a whole Hova album??? Let us not forget that would look really good for the ROC and bring back artist we thought were extinct like Beanie, Young Chris, and Memphis Bleek who are all dope MC's but get nooooo play rather it be label politics or what have you.

And what about Just Blaze????? He has been on every Jay-Z album since mmmmm lets say the Dynasty album. But I guess his situation with Saigon has been preoccupying most of his time. But I would not count him out either...by no means!!!!

Method Man Gets A Burn Notice & Preps Grapic Novel

Wu-Tang Clan rapper/actor Method Man will make an appearance on USA Network’s original action series Burn Notice.

The series stars Jeffery Donovan as Michael Westen, a blacklisted spy in Miami. Method Man, born Clifford Smith, will star as a music industry executive who believes one of his employee’s is stealing from him.

Burn Notice also stars Gabrielle Anwar and Tricia Helfer. Burn Notice, which is in its second season, airs every Thursday at 10:00 PM.

In related news, Method Man is putting the finishing touches on his self-titled graphic novel, Method Man, which is being written with David Atchinson and illustrated by Sanford Greene, who has worked with companies like Hasbro, Sega, Image Comics, Archie Comics, and Dark Horse Comics.

Slim Thug Leaves Interscope; Preps New Boss Hogg Outlaws Album

A little over a year after the release of their debut album Serve & Collect, The Boss Hogg Outlawz are set to release their sophomore effort.


Slim Thug will join original Boyz N Blue members PJ Tha Rap Hustla, Sir Daily, Chris Ward, and Killa Kyleon to deliver Back By Blockular Demand (Serve & Collect 2) on September 2.


The new album marks the addition of two new members The Boss Hogg Outlawz collective: J-Dawg and Young Black.


It also marks the inclusion of Slim Thug, who recently left Interscope Records to run his Boss Hogg Outlawz imprint, which is distributed by Koch Records.


"Koch is thrilled to welcome Slim Thug to our roster of artists,” says General Manager Alan Grunblatt. “He is truly one of the greatest rappers in the country. His group, Boss Hogg Outlawz, is set to explode."


Slim Thug and the Boss Hogg Outlawz have released two new videos in support of the new album.


The first, a street video for the song “Ride Wit’ No Ceilings,” was recently released via the Internet and is available on YouTube.


The Boss Hogg Outlawz also recently shot a new video for “Keep It Playa," which features Ray J.

Jay-Z's New Project NOT Being Done By Timbo or Is It??

So the Great Timbo (Timbaland for you lames haha) did an interview with MTV News not too long ago stating that he would be helming the next Jay-Z album. Well yesterday Hova denied this, but not completely throwing the notion out the window. Hova said the notion was "Premature" until there are actually beats in his hands. He also stated “If Timbaland makes 10 great tracks then he produces the album,” he said. “If Kanye West makes 10 great tracks then he produces the album; if he makes three, I’ll take three. I let the music dictate the direction.”SOOO will Kanye be involved or Timbo, or maybe both! Those brothers have already mad sonic bliss together, Timbaland made the drums knock for Kanye's "Stronger" and would work well together doing a complete album for Jay-Z.

So i was roaming around Hypebeast the other day like I always do after work and digitally tripped over this little treat. New 17 inch Darth Vader figures were shown off at the San Diego Comic Con. In a nut shell several artists were giving the honor of redesigning Darth Vader's famed helm for the 2008 Vader Project. You have never seen Vader look so damn cool!! This is actually the second showing of the Vader Project, the first was in Japan and ten regional artists got to redesign the helmet as well. This is so fresh I had to post it. Straight NERD eye candy!!

When I Not Blogging I'm Playing....Final Fantasy IV DS

Whoa!! I have to say I feeling pretty good about this post even though I'm not sure what the game I'm gonna tell you about has to do with Hip-Hop, even though when rappers are not rapping the are picking up the handhelds or the sticks (controllers) to play their favorite games.

I just picked up Final Fantasy IV for the Nintendo DS and fell in love with it hard. Just imagine your favorite blogger's favorite nerd playing one of the best RPG's (Role Playing Game) and listening to NaS or Jay-Z bwahahaha! On the real it is a really good game. I have been cutting into my Pokemon time (one of my favorite game fanchises of all time) to focus on the story of the Dark Knight Cecil and his quest for redemption. It looks better then the Gameboy Advanced version and SNES version. I can't say it plays better since I have never played either, but both of those versions are deemed the best of the best on both systems and now the DS version can join the ranks. I highly suggest you pick this one up if you have a DS and the time. And if you pick one up from Gamestop don't forget to reserve Crono Trigger, Dragon Quest IV, Sonic Chronicles: Dark Brotherhood, and Kirby Superstar Ultra all for DS (shameless plug for the companyI work for ahaha).

Damn Juelz Gets Sold To Parent Company Def Jam For Two Milli, Two Milli...

Man I read this on the various blogspheres yesterday but waved it off...why? Cause a part of me did not what to believe it. Now out of all of the Dipset Members Julez Santana was and still is my favorite. His first album From Me To U released in 2003 did so so. It was unbalanced and needed more structure. But Mr.Santana was not down and out yet. He came back with What The Game's Been Missing! in 2005 and this one went platinum because he figured out what was missing from his first offering. Through mixtapes and various remixes his lyrics got better and he began to set himself above most of the Dipset crew (except for Jim Jones who was making power moves left and right). As Jim Jones and Juelz became more recognizable and relevant in the Dipset crew, Cam'Ron seemed to fade off due to a few unfocused albums, beef with both 50 Cent and Jay-Z, and a few scuffs with Jim and Juelz. As many of you might already have found out by now Cam'Ron sold Juelz Santana's recording contract off to Def Jam for (brace yourself) two milli, two milli, two milli, etc. (two million in non-Weezy terms) Juelz seems to rejoice in the fact that he is free from Dipset but still says there is no hard feelings. And has a joint venture with Def Jam already. Juelz Did admit that the trust he gave to Killa Cam had been abused, but there are still no hard feelings. Julez is already preparing a new mixtape, The Regan Era, and a new album, Born To Lose, Built To Win!!! He still has a project planned with Lil' Wayne last time I checked and is still cool with Jim Jones. Here is the official story:
