Prison Doesn't Stop Remy Ma; Readies BlasRemy Mixtape
Life behind bars may prevent Remy Ma from seeing her fans, but the rap diva is doing her part to reach out to them with her forthcoming mixtape, BlasRemy.
The 17-song release will feature appearances from Papoose as well as 3Sum, Remy Ma's all-female rap group with Jackie-O and Shawnna.
To prepare for BlasRemy’s arrival, the rapper released a freestyle over Patti LaBelle’s song "If" to radio stations within the last month.
Other songs featured on the mixtape include remakes of Lauryn Hill's "Doo-Wop That Thing", Playa Circle's "Duffle Bag Boy", and the last song she recorded, "I'mma Do Re-my," which features Remy Ma rapping over the beat to Rocko's popular song " "Umma Do Me."
Other guests on board for BlasRemy include rappers Jae Millz, and Chingy.
The release of the DJ Bedtyme-hosted project comes after a turbulent few months for Remy Ma, who was sentenced to eight years in prison on May 13 after being convicted of shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph in July of 2007.
The ruling stemmed from $3,000 that went missing from Remy Ma’s purse after the rapper, Barnes-Joseph and an entourage left a New York night club.
The release precedes the Remy Ma’s official second album, PunishHer.
Remy Ma’s BlasRemy mixtape, which can be ordered now at www.remyma.com, is slated to be available for full digital download in the coming month.
