Ras Kass Readies New Album

West Coast rhymesayer Ras Kass continues to keep fans in mind as he gears up for the release of his forthcoming album Institutionalized Vol.II.

The project is the latest in a string of albums from Ras Kass, who first emerged on the scene with his 1996 debut Soul On Ice. Since then, the California native has cemented his status as a fixture in the West Coast Hip-Hop scene with his 1998 follow-up Rasassination and appearances on various mixtapes.

Institutionalized Vol. II comes after Ras Kass 'Institutionalized Vol. 1.Revenge of the Spit, a 27-song mixtape that was released independently in February 2006.

The new Babygrande Records album was originally slated to come out in the summer of 2006, but was put on hold in light of the rapper's lawsuit against Capital/EMI Records.

The label later released Ras Kass from his recording contract following the settlement of the suit in 2007.

Ras Kass is currently serving time at the Pitchess Detention Center North Facility in Castaic, Ca. after his Oct. 29, 2007 arrest in Palmdale, California, for violating his probation by leaving California to attend the BET Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta.

Ras Kass' Instinutionalized Vol. II is scheduled to hit stores on August 5th.
